Answer first
A cheaper purchase price does not automatically create the lower ownership cost. Compare the actual deposit, financed amount, tenure and total scheduled repayment offered for each vehicle. Add insurance, road tax, fuel, tolls, parking, maintenance and a repair buffer. For a used or reconditioned vehicle, verify inspection, warranty and condition evidence. Keep emergency savings outside the deposit.
Malaysian example
One car saves RM250 a month on instalment but needs a RM3,000 near-term repair buffer. The household compares the first-year cash requirement before choosing.
